Murdered teen to be memorialized

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A teen who was sexually assaulted and murdered will be memorialized this weekend.

Saturday, on what would have been her 19th birthday, the life of Tara Willenborg will be celebrated at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville from 3 to 6 p.m.

During the ceremony a memorial garden will be dedicated at the church in her name.

Willenborg was 17 years old when she was found dead inside her apartment on March 2, 2013.

Richard Hooten, a convicted sex offender, admitted to killing Willenborg. He is in jail awaiting trial.
