Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the American Red Cross

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Join the Red Cross in celebrating St. Patrick's Day by donating blood at the annual Holiday Hero St. Patrick's Day Blood Drive.

The Holiday Hero St. Patrick's Day Blood Drive takes place March 12 from noon till 7 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 830 Phillips Lane.

Participants will receive a free green Red Cross t-shirt, enjoy Irish stew, potato soup and will be eligible to win Panera bagels for a year.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

To donate blood a blood donor card, driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

The Red Cross collects and distributes more than 40 percent of the nation's blood supply each year. Just one blood donation can help save up to three lives.
