LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Super-sized
bugs swarmed the entrance of the Louisville Zoo Monday, creating quite a buzz.
Zoo visitors will get to
check out 13 animatronic insects including ants, spiders, bees and even a tarantula up close and personal as part of the Big, Big Bugs Exhibit.
The company that built the
robotic bugs scanned images of the insects so they could magnify the detailed
markings of the insects.
Louisville Zoo Media Relations Manager Kyle Shepherd said, "They're here for education reasons. You know,
bugs are a part of our planet and you know, to get to see how a bug works and
to see it larger than life like that, is really a learning experience. And you
know, we're making them approachable, so they're not scary."
The exhibit opens March 28
and will be at the Zoo through September 28.
