LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash near Jeffersontown early Tuesday morning, according to Louisville Metro police.
The victims were found dead hours later in two different yards in the 4100 block of Rivulet Court just north of Blankenbaker Parkway and Taylorsville Road hours later, police said. The wrecked motorcycle was located in a third yard.
According to investigators, a woman riding on the motorcycle fell off and hit a sound barrier. The man driving the motorcycle traveled a short distance farther before falling off the bike.
A MetroSafe supervisor said a neighbor heard a noise overnight and called authorities at 7:53 a.m. after locating the bodies.
The accident happened across the street from Karen Brumback. "Breaks your heart to know someone's kids weren't coming home or didn't make it home last night," said Brumback.
Police say the victims were wearing motorcycle protective jackets but, no helmets were found at the scene. Police believe the victims were in their 20s. The coroner has not released the names of the victims.
Brumback said the stretch of Blankenbaker where the motorcycle wrecked is a problem because it is not well lit and people speed.
