LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is charged with attempted murder after beating and choking his girlfriend.

According to a police report, Aljermaine Foy, 37, was fighting with his girlfriend on March 8 because she wanted to end the relationship. Foy showed up at the victim's sister's house, acting aggressively. The girlfriend offered to drive Foy to his brother's apartment. Once there, Foy apparently grabbed the car keys and threw them into the woods.

The two got into a physical fight and pushed each other. Foy then grabbed the victim by her hair and pulled her into the woods. She said Foy tried to chock her. She then bit his hand and the struggle began. Apparently Foy bear-hugged her and squeezed her so hard she could not breathe and lost consciousness.

During the incident, Foy allegedly hit the victim in the head with a rock, hit the back of her neck and banged her head against the ground. Foy also forced her head into the mud and suffocated her again. He also made statements saying he would kill her.

A witness said he head scream from the woods and called 911. The victim managed to get away and ran to the apartments, knocking on random doors until she was let in to call police.

She was transported to University Hospital with multiple injuries including a laceration across her face, severe neck pain and lots of bruising.

Foy was arrested on Monday. He is being charged with attempted murder and assault.
