LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The shooting suspect who was taken down by a K-9 officer near the University of Louisville was arrested at Metro Corrections Thursday.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell, a man was found shot several times around 6 p.m. March 10 in the 400 block of Heywood Avenue.
Mitchell said officers tracked down Brandon Parker, 22, a few blocks away on Lillian Avenue. Mitchell said a K-9 officer bit Parker before officers took him into custody.
An arrest report stated that numerous 9mm shell casings were recovered at the scene, and Parker pulled out a bag of heroin while running and tried to throw it away. The heroin was apparently packaged to sell.
Police said the victim, Anthony Williams, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
