LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville woman says her daughter's boyfriend stole $15,000 worth of jewelry from her home.
According to an arrest warrant, the victim told police every piece of valuable jewelry she owns disappeared in 2013 while 23-year-old Michael Burba was staying at her home. Diamond earrings and necklaces were among the items stolen.
Police said the victim confronted Burba about the missing jewelry, and he admitted taking it, saying he would go to rehab to seek help. The arrest report states Burba has failed to do so and has continued taking property from others.
Burba was arrested on March 13, 2014. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
Burba was arrested in a burglary case in February. Police said Burba confessed to using a credit card to break into an 85-year-old neighbor's house and steal $60 out of her purse.
In that case, investigators said snowy footprints lead from the victim's home to Burba's home.
