Expo allows women to network, showcase businesses

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – In America 8.6 million businesses, thatgenerate $1.3 trillion in revenue are owned by women, but womenwho want to run their own business find some unique challenges as they startand try to grow.

Friday, the 2014 Women in Business Expo held theirsecond event themed Level the Playing Field.

The expo was held at the Galt House Hotel and gave women a chance to network while showcasing their business.

Sharron Johnson with Women's Business Centerof Kentucky said, "Women businesses, they're actually growing each year ingrowth, what we're not doing is growing in sales and hiring employees so ourgoal is to increase those numbers."

Pamela Dumm, with JeffersonCommunity and Technical College said, "For women, a lot of the networkingopportunities, being able to be there for each other and build that confidencelevel, make those connections for women who are owning their own businesses ormaybe they're thinking about starting it."
