One killed in I-65 collision

WARREN COUNTY, KY (WAVE) –  Kentucky State Post 3 Bowling Green Troopers responded to a collision on Interstate 65 at the 39 mile marker in Warren County.

According to Trooper Brett Coomes, the operator of a North American Van Lines Kenworth tractor trailer was traveling south on I-65 when he struck the rear end of a  JAJ Transportation Freightliner tractor trailer March 15 at 1:30 p.m.

The collision caused the Kenworth to burst into flames killing the driver. The name of the driver is not being released pending family notification.

The operator of the Transportation Freightliner was Jose Rodriguez, 34, of Leigh Acres, FL. According to reports Rodriguez was taken to the Medical Center for observation.

All three lanes of I-65 South are open now but were closed for most of the night.

The investigation is still ongoing.
