LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An arrest has been made two years after three Louisville Metro Police Department vehicles were broken into, and LMPD property and officers' personal items were stolen out of them.

Kenneth Wright, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.

Police said Wright broke the windows out of the three police cars on March 3, 2012 on an apartment complex parking lot in the 5200 block of Heafer Farm Court. Wright lived in one of the apartments with his mother.

Two officers said the amounts of personal property stolen from their squad cars totaled $100 and $150 respectively. In addition, $3,600 worth of LMPD property was stolen from the cars, including police-issued ammunition, pepper spray and a gas mask.

Vehicle damage estimates totaled approximately $1,093.

Wright was identified through DNA evidence collected at the scene.

Police said Wright was a convicted felon at the time of the incident.
