LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man is accused of crashing a car while driving drunk on a learner's permit, injuring two young children who were riding in the front seat unrestrained.
Police say Tow N. Po, 34, was involved in a motor vehicle accident around 6:30 Saturday night in the 1200 block of Carrico Avenue. According to a witness, Po was driving with two children, ages 5 and 3, in the front seat of the vehicle without any kind of child restraint. Both children suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident.
The arresting officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on Po's breath and said Po had glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Po failed a field sobriety test, according to his arrest report.
Police said Po was operating the car with a Kentucky Instructional Permit without a licensed driver present.
Po is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, two counts of wanton endangerment, failure to use a child restraint device in a vehicle and instructional permit violations.
