LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man lands in hot water when police were dispatched to his home on a domestic violence call.

According to an arrest slip, officers arrived at a house on South 34th Street around 5:30 Sunday morning. When they arrived, they met with the victim who said Reuben Winston, 34, had hit her in the face and that he was still in the house. The victim, Winston's girlfriend, told officers to use the side door.

One officer stated he took watch as the others approached the front door instead. An officer knocked on the door and stated, "Police." At this time, Winston apparently grabbed a shotgun and pointed it out the window.

Officers feared for their safety and drew their weapons. They gave Winston verbal commands, telling him to drop the weapon and come out of the house. Without further incident, Winston was taken into custody. Police requested a high bond because they believe he is an escape risk.

Winston is being charged with domestic violence, wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
