Man tried to hide handgun stolen from Clarksville Police

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – When police were dispatched to people tampering with a vehicle, they found a convicted felon with a stolen police-issued gun.

According to an arrest slip, officers were called about four people tampering with a car in the 2400 block of Montgomery Street in Clarksville. The car had been reported stolen.

When officers arrived, they ordered the people to stop and place their hands on the car. That's then Cory Nifong, 19, apparently walked to the other side of the vehicle, pulled out a handgun and threw it under the police car.

The handgun had been reported stolen from Clarksville Police. The clip for the handgun was located in Nifong's pocket. He told police that he threw the handgun because he was scared.

Nifong is being charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.
