Teenager stabbed aboard TARC bus dies of injuries

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A teenage boy who was stabbed on board a TARC bus died Tuesday afternoon, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Me'Quale Offutt, 14, was stabbed three times during an altercation early Sunday morning aboard a TARC bus near 28th Street and West Broadway in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood. He suffered injuries to his heart and had been placed in a medically-induced coma to help his heart heal.

Community activist Christopher 2X, speaking on behalf of Offutt's family, said Offutt's mother decided late Tuesday afternoon to donate her son's organs in hopes of saving other lives.

A 13-year-old girl who accompanied Offutt on the bus was also stabbed during the altercation. Her condition is unknown.

Anthony Rene Allen, 44, is accused of the stabbing. Allen has an extensive history of violence. He is charged with two counts of assault and tampering with physical evidence. With Offutt's death, Allen could be charged with murder.

Police have said the teens did not know Allen.
