10 taken to hospitals after bus crash in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – Ten people, including eight children, were taken to area hospitals as a precaution following a bus crash in Shelby County.

According to Shelby County Schools spokesperson Ryan Allen, around 3 p.m. Tuesday, eight students from Painted Stone Elementary, the driver of the bus and a bus monitor were on board the bus when it crashed in the 7000 block of Aiken Road.

Emergency crews responded the crash. After EMA cleared the scene Allen said the Shelby County Superintendent made the decision to send all eight of the students to Kosair Children's Hospital to be checked out. The bus driver and monitor were taken to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.

Allen said parents who had students on the bus were notified of the crash. No additional vehicles were involved.
