Coroner releases identity of body found near Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A death investigation is underway after police found a woman's lifeless body.

Louisville Metro Police officers responded to a call of a body found Saturday, March 22 around 9:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Phyllis Avenue near Churchill Downs.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed the deceased was Angela Pilkerton, 53, of Louisville.

Her autopsy supported claims by the LMPD Homicide Unit that foul play was involved, but an exact cause of death could not be determined.

The investigation continues.
