Authorities find missing French Lick plane

CANON, GEORGIA (WAVE) – The plane from Indiana that was missing after it never landed in Georgia has been located.

The wreckage was found in Monroe County, Tennessee on Monday, near Calderwood Dam and in the Goat Creek.

Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens said the pilot died in the crash. He was the only person on board.

The FAA issued an alert early Monday for an aircraft with one person on board that was missing south of Knoxville in an area near Calderwood Lake.

According to the FAA, the flight left French Lick, Indiana Sunday night, but never reached its intended destination of Canon, Georgia.

Authorities are still looking into why the plane crashed.
