LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentuckians may take pride in Big Blue Nation, but apparently little else helps contributes to overall good feelings.
For the fifth straight year, Kentucky residents ranked just above West Virginians at the bottom rung for well-being. It is a Gallup and Healthways well-being Index, examining live evaluation, emotional and physical health, work environment, healthy behaviors, and access to basic necessities. Indiana residents tied those in Louisiana among the bottom 10 states, a group that also included Ohio and Tennessee, so the entire region apparently isn't doing too well.
Another survey released this week showed Oldham County as the healthiest county in Kentucky and Scott County the least healthy county in Indiana, so apparently there are degrees of health county by county.
If you want to live in the top state for emotional health, head to Alaska, and for physical health and work environment, move to North Dakota.
While these surveys may speak for the collective, it is always good to realize that state of mind begins with the individual. A positive outlook can go a long way to personally feeling good about yourself - even if your team doesn't win Friday night.
