Driver flees police, crashes into home

Middlefield, CT (WFSB) -

A 29-year-old driver was injured after he attempted to flee police and lost control of the vehicle he was driving.

State Police said Edwin Rodriguez of Meriden was traveling along Jackson Hill Road in Middlefield when a trooper attempted to pull him over for not having a rear license plate.

Police said Rodriguez sped off along Cedar Street at nearly 70 mph before loosing control of his vehicle and crashing through a set of trees into several parked cars, and then into a home.

Rodriguez was taken to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries.

He is facing several charges including engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, operating under suspension and failure to display a marker plate.  He is due in Middletown Superior Court next month.

No one else was injured in the crash.
