LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The robbery early March 27 of a convenience store on the Okolona area was quickly solved with the arrest of the two people Louisville Metro Police say committed the crime.
The robbery of the Speedway at 4900 Outer Loop happened was reported at 12:45 a.m. According to LMPD, a man entered the store and selected merchandise. As he approached the checkout counter, the man displayed a handgun and pointed it at the clerk. The suspect took the items he had brought to the checkout counter and left the store.
LMPD robbery unit detectives said the clerk was able to identify the man from a photo pack as Dewayne Albert Krank, 22. He was arrested around 3:10 a.m. at his home about one-half mile away.
Also arrested in connection with the holdup was Chelsey Rae Jones, 19. Police said Jones served as a lookout while Krank held up the store.
Both Krank and Jones are charged with robbery. Krank is also charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Detectives recovered the handgun used in the robbery was recovered from a jacket Krank was wearing. They also said Jones was drinking beverage and smoking cigarettes stolen during the robbery when she was found at the couple's apartment.
