One officer injured during multi-county police pursuit

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An early morning robbery-turned police chase ended with an officer taken to the hospital.

According to the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, a man robbed the Valero Gas Station on Highway 245 near Bernheim Forest. Around 4:20 Monday morning, the clerk reported the man acted like he had a weapon and demanded cash.

The clerk was able to give police a description and license plate number. Around 4:30, Shepherdsville Police and the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office saw the vehicle on I-65 north bound near the 117 mile marker. Police tried to pull over the car, but the driver refused to stop.

The police pursuit continued about 20 minutes and ended in an alley at 2nd and Florence in Louisville. During the pursuit, a Louisville Metro Police car was hit, causing minor injuries to an officer.

Two people have been arrested: The driver, Lauren Baker, 30, and Jeffrey Dawson, 29. Both suspects are from Louisville.

Baker is being charged with complicity to robbery, fleeing police, assault on a peace officer, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

Dawson is being charged with robbery.
