GHENT, KY (WAVE) - The mother of a Carroll County toddler who died of a drug overdose in February has been charged with criminal abuse and transfer of a controlled substance to a minor.

Amanda Foster, 28, was arrested at her home in Ghent, Kentucky on Tuesday and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center.

In March, the child's father, 26-year-old Douglas Allen, was charged with murder in the child's death.

According to Kentucky State Police, Foster, who is Allen's girlfriend, called 911 on the morning of February 19 and told police that her 2-year-old son had been found dead in his bed. A toxicology report showed the child had extremely high levels of oxycodone in his system at the time of his death. Investigators believe Allen gave his son the narcotic on the night of February 18, which led to his death.
