LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An 11-month-old boy was killed and a 5-year-old boy and 22-year-old woman were left in critical condition after a head-on crash in southwest Louisville Wednesday night, according to Louisville Metro police.
LMPD Officer Carey Klain said a gold Mazda, driven by a woman with two children inside, was headed south in the 7400 block of St. Andrews Church Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a blue Honda at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday.
Klain said the 11-month-old boy was in a car seat at the time of the crash but was unresponsive when police arrived. An officer transported the baby to Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 5-year-old boy was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital in critical condition. The woman driving the Mazda was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with a serious leg injury/ She is expected to recover.
The 22-year-old driver of the blue Honda was also taken to University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.
Klain said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but officers do not believe alcohol was a factor.
