MEMPHIS, IN (WAVE) – As heavy rain fell Friday morning firefighters rushed to rescue residents from rising water.

When Sellersburg Fire and Rescue crews arrived at one couple's home their entire front yard was underwater and their car almost submerged. Crews got right to work, inflating a raft and paddling to the house.

The man and woman who lived inside were safely rescued with their dog, but they were still missing a family member, a second pet was missing.

With flashlights in hand they searched a flooded shed, but soon they had to go.

The couple who was rescued made it out without any injuries.

During the rescue firefighters received several other calls to rescue people stranded in their vehicles.
