LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A burglary suspect who broke out a skylight and then fell to the floor below, breaking his leg in the process, was arrested Friday, according to police.

Kenneth Deshawn Splunge, 34, is accused of climbing over a fence and gaining access to the roof of the 300 Building at 3rd and Main Streets on April 2. Police said Splunge then broke out the skylight and dropped a ladder into a penthouse apartment, but he fell into the home, injuring his leg so badly, he couldn't move.

Splunge's arrest report says the would-be burglar called 911. Police, firefighters and EMS responded. Splunge was found inside a bathroom. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and admitted for treatment of his injuries.

Damage to the victim's property is estimated at more than $10,000.

The apartment is on the sixth floor of the building, which also houses Bluegrass Brewing Company and Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Splunge is also charged with stealing from the Book and Music Exchange on Preston Highway. According to an arrest slip, Splunge and a woman entered the store. Splunge stole over $500 in merchandise, but the woman stayed behind when he fled. The incident was caught on camera and the woman had all of Splunge's information.
