Teens arrested in scuffle with teacher at Santa Monica High
Cell phone video from inside a classroom at Santa Monica High School went viral last week. It shows Mark Black, a longtime teacher and wrestling coach, getting into a physical altercation with a student. The district superintendent called the incident "utterly alarming" and "unacceptable," and immediately placed the teacher on leave pending an investigation.
Parents and school board members have since came to the defense of the teacher, and even created a Facebook page called "We Support Coach Black of Samohi." The superintendent later apologized to the community for her statements. On Monday, Santa Monica police arrested an 18-year-old and 16-year-old in connection with the classroom scuffle.
One school board member said the situation happened after a conflict over drug use, which has since raised questions about when and how teachers and school faculty should intervene when students break a rule or pose a threat.

Owner helps terminally ill dog fulfill bucket list
A terminally ill boxer checked off all 22 items off of his bucket list before dying thanks to his owner Riina Cooke. The 9-year-old dog named Romeo was diagnosed with an inoperable bone cancer, and Cooke said she wanted to make the most of his last days. The pair completed a wish list, which let Romeo enjoy a "pawicure," a cheeseburger, ride in a police cruiser and even visit the United States from his home in British Columbia.
Cooke created a Facebook page in Romeo's memory which has inspired others to do the same for their pups.
