LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – When police tried to stop a Louisville man, he took off at a high speed, endangering those around him and his 13-year-old passenger.

According to a police report, officers tried to pull over a 2001 silver Mercury on April 7. Larry Blakely, 26, took off at a high speed on 40th Street right when children where getting home from school. The report says the roads were also slippery from rain. Officers began to follow the car, but Blakely ran into a pole.

Blakely and a 13-year-old jumped out of the car. Police chased the two through several backyards and caught them. The juvenile said he ran because Blakely told him to.

Blakely is being charged with reckless driving, fleeing from a police officer, criminal mischief, endangering a minor and criminal trespassing.
