LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man was arrested after he was observed committing a theft while a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy was watching.

The arrest report says the crime took place at the Hardee’s restaurant at 3459 Taylor Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. April 9. The deputy, who was working off duty at the restaurant, saw Jason L. Edmondson, 38, climb into the back of a pickup truck.

When confronted by the deputy and the owner of the vehicle, Edmonson took off running, but was caught by the deputy and placed under arrest. The report says Edmonson was a former employee of Hardee’s.

While fleeing from the deputy, Edmonson dropped the weedeater, valued at $600. After his arrest, Edmonson was also found to have a pill in his possession that was later identified as being for depression.

Edmonson was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of theft by unlawful taking, fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief and having a prescription not in its original container.
