JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A YouTube video meant to inform Thunder Over Louisville-goers misinformed them.

The City of Jefferonsville posted a clip which included a graphic of several items prohibited from public viewing areas. This list included weapons.

"Weapons shouldn't be on there. While we don't want the public to bring guns and knives to Thunder, however we can not legally prevent anyone from legally carrying a firearm inside the event area," Jeffersonville Police spokesman Todd Hollis said.

The mayor's office subcontracts public relations and posted the YouTube video, according to Hollis.

"The video was made as a public service announcement," he said.

Indiana State Police will be among several agencies along the riverfront during Thunder Over Louisville in Jeffersonville and Clarksville.

"Common sense is going to tell you, you probably don't want to be on the riverfront where there are a bunch of people and where there are children - and be armed with a firearm or anything that could be deadly," ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin said.

Anyone carrying a gun will be required to show their Indiana handgun permit.

"If they have their license and they're legal, we advise those with a weapon to keep it hidden somewhere so you're not going to draw attention to yourself," Sgt. Goodin said.
