Local cancer patients will soon have a newly redesigned area to receive treatment.

Studies reveal that the physical environment where one receives treatment impacts a person's healing process, so UC Cancer Institute in partnership with ‘Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo' are creating new and uplifting chemotherapy treatment spaces.

The $200,000 project is brings in a designer from HGTV with 100 volunteers to remodel the chemotherapy infusion areas and radiation oncology lobby in the Barrett Center. It's all happening this weekend.

Hospitals across the country have received 'Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo' makeovers. Each redesign has a theme that's implemented through artistry and technology in the rooms. The goal is to create a positive, healing and uplifting environment.

UC says 10,000 cancer patients will benefit from the revamped space. It will be revealed on Monday, April 14.
