LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A match of DNA left behind has resulted in the arrest of a man police say committed the robbery of a hotel nearly three years ago.

On the night of July 20, 2011, a man wearing a ski mask and sweatshirt used a gun to hold up the front desk clerk at LaQuinta Inn and Suites at 4125 Preston Highway. During their investigation, Louisville Metro Police found a ski mask and sweatshirt about one block of the hotel along the route used by the suspect to escape. The evidence was turned over to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab.

KSP informed LMPD detectives on March 14, 2014 that they had able to retrieve DNA from the evidence and it came back as a match to Eric Stalling, 26, of Louisville.

Stalling was arrested April 10 by LMPD and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on one count of robbery.
