Girl Scouts seeking applications for Distinguished Young Alumna Award

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana is accepting applications for the council's Distinguished Young Alumna Award. It will be presented at the council's inaugural Young Women of Distinction celebration in June.

"The Distinguished Young Alumna Award recognizes a young professional woman utilizing Girl Scouting experience, to be a leader in her community, career, and personal life," states Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana CEO Lora Tucker.

The Distinguish Young Alumna Award will be presented to a woman between the ages of 25 and 39 who was a Girl Scout with any council in her youth and currently lives in one of the 64 counties in Kentucky or Indiana that comprise the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana service area.

The council will also present the Young Woman of Distinction Award to a recent Girl Scout Gold Award recipient who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills through her Gold Medal Award project.

"With only 5.4% of Girl Scouts eligible for the Gold Award, the Young Woman of Distinction Award is the pinnacle of continued success in Girl Scouts," states Tucker.

Applications for the Distinguished Young Alumna Award are available at gskentuckiana.org. Application materials should be submitted to Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, 2115 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY 40206 c/o Distinguished Alumna Award. The application deadline is Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. EDT.

The award will be presented at the Young Women of Distinction celebration at 6 p.m. on June 7 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville.
