LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A judge denied a mistrial motion on Monday for a man accused of orchestrating the murder of a star witness in another case.

Prosecutors say Dejuan Hammond planned the murder of Troya Sheckles, the star witness in the murder trial of Hammond's brother.

The defense requested the mistrial after the prosecution turned over an interview with a witness from 2009 -- just a few months after Sheckles was killed. The judge will allow the witness to be questioned again.

Hammond's trial was supposed to begin last fall, but prosecutors had to drop the charges when they couldn't find two key witnesses. He was reindicted in January.
