Pedestrian hit by vehicle after Thunder identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The identity of a pedestrian who was hit by a Jeep after Thunder Over Louisville has been released.

According to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jo-Ann Farmer, Michael Purnell, 22, died of multiple blunt force injuries at 1:43 p.m. Monday at University of Louisville Hospital.

Louisville Metro Police said Purnell walked in front of the Jeep at 3730 River Road around midnight Sunday.

Investigators believe the victim may have been intoxicated, but toxicology results are pending.  No charges have been filed against the driver. Police do not believe the driver had been drinking.

Visitation and Funeral services for Purnell will be held at Shannon Funeral Services, located at 1124 Main Street in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16 from 3 to 8 p.m. and his funeral will be held April 17 at 11 a.m.
