LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Trial has begun in the case of a former Roman Catholic priest on charges that he sexually abused two teenage boys in the 1970s.
James Schook was indicted on seven charges in 2011, but he sought several delays of the court proceedings because of his health.
The first witness of the trial, Richard Whitfield, told the jury that he began have sexual encounters with Schook in the summer of 1971. Whitfield, who was 13 at the time, said the encounters often occurred in Schook's room in the rectory at St. Rita Catholic Church.
