Louisville, KY. (WAVE) The P-G-A Championship's return isn't until August 4th-10th....but records are already being broken at Valhalla.
On Tuesday morning, officials announced that the ticket sales for the event are the most successful in the 96 years of the event. "We're thrilled that we've eclipsed that record. For 96 years, it's a great record that's withstood the test of time. It tells you what this market loves. They love golf," said PGA Championship director, Brett Sterba.
The Valhalla ticket sales broke a ten year old record set at Whistling Straights in Wisconsin back in 2004. Sterba says that Louisville will be the gold standard for ticket sales of the PGA Championship. "We're going to forever look back at this day and say guess what, Louisville is the number one market of all time for a PGA Championship. The 96 year history of this championship, no market has outsold Louisville in terms of tickets. So, we're going to hang our hat on that. Valhalla Golf Club and Louisville, Kentucky is going to be the measuring stick for all P-G-A Championships," remarked Sterba.
Weekend tickets have already sold out, but there are still a limited number of tickets available for Monday thru Thursday.
