FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky lawmakers have gone home without voting on a proposal to provide state-backed bonding to help pay for the renovation of Rupp Arena.

The last-minute proposal remained in limbo on Tuesday, which was the last day of the 2014 legislative session.

Supporters tried to win over reluctant Republican senators. The new financing proposal called for $80 million in state-supported bonding to help renovate the home court of the University of Kentucky men's basketball team.

But the proposal never came up for a vote as time ran out on the session.

Gov. Steve Beshear led the push to authorize state-backed bonds to help pay for the renovations.

Lawmakers had already refused to include $65 million in Rupp Arena-related state bonding in the two-year state budget that passed the legislature.
