A multi-million dollar construction project is under way in Texarkana, AR.
Dirt work started Monday on a new bridge to replace what is known as the "Texarkana, Arkansas Viaduct." The project is being supervised by the Arkansas Department of Transportation at an estimated cost of $11.6 million.
The present viaduct was built in 1939 and no longer meets highway department standards.
Arkansas highway officials say construction of the new bridge should be completed in 18 to 24 months.
