Senate hopefuls participate in televised debate

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Less than one month from a primary showdown with the Senate's most powerful Republican three candidates trying to unseat Mitch McConnell participated in a debate.

Sunday night candidates Matt Bevin, Brad Copas and Shawna Sterling discussed issues with KET's Kentucky Tonight host Bill Goodman.

During the discussion Bevin questioned McConnell's record on coal, one of Kentucky's most profitable industries.

McConnell has made coal one of his primary issues this election season.

Senator McConnell, who is seeking his 6th term in the U.S. Senate, was invited but did not take part in the debate.
