ST. MATTHEWS, KY (WAVE) - A convicted felon is facing charges after a home in St. Matthews was burglarized.
On April 12, St. Matthews police were called to a home in the 100 block of Colonial Drive. The homeowner said his Ruger .357 revolver had been taken, along with cash and several bottles of collectors’ edition Jim Beam bourbon.
While the officer and the homeowner were checking the property, they found a wallet in the driveway next to the case for the Ruger and cell phone in the backyard near a garbage can. The owner of the wallet, Steven Lawrence Stine, 42, was brought to St. Matthews Police headquarters for questioning. Police said Stine requested an attorney.
On April 21, police received a call from Stine’s father saying he had the stolen gun. Detectives went to the home and recovered the weapon. Stine, who was asleep upstairs, was arrested on charges of burglary and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
