Former USA Baby owner pleads guilty

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The owner of a baby store that abruptly closed admitted to stealing customer's money on Tuesday.

Former USA Baby owner Lisa Burden pleaded guilty to four counts of theft in Jefferson Circuit Court.

In October 2013, USA Baby, which was located on Linn Station Road, abruptly closed leaving customers who had paid for furniture up front out hundreds, and in some cases thousands, of dollars.

Investigators said Burden created a false impression with customers with the intent to take their money.

Judge Hon. Barry Willett  ordered Burden to repay customers who never received the items they paid for and placed her on a three year probation.

According to the Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Consumer Protection the amount Burden will have to repay customers is $6,300.
