Indiana officials warn residents of possible phone scam

INDIANAPOLIS (WAVE) - Officials say calls to dozens of Indiana residents about suspended debit cards could be a scam.

Reports residents have made about the calls described them as an automated voice message that tells the person who answers the phone that their debit card has been suspended.

The message then asks for users debit card numbers, their security codes and the last digits of their social security number.

A spokeswoman for the Consumer Protection Division said people should hang up and call their banks if they receive a call of this nature.
