Police arrest theft suspect in UofL dorm lobby

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The suspect in a theft was arrested in the lobby of a dorm at the University of Louisville after he was tased by Metro police.

According to Alicia Smiley, a spokeswoman for LMPD, the incident happened around 10:15 a.m. after a wallet was stolen from an office.

The suspect was running from police when he ducked into Bettie Johnson Hall at 4th Street and Cardinal Boulevard where he was confronted by officers.

Smiley said the suspect is not a UofL student and was not injured during the arrest.

Mark Hebert, a spokesman for UofL, said the incident did not pose a threat to the campus or any students staying at the dorm.

The stolen wallet was recovered.
