LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Big ideas will help transform vacant lots into productive and thriving areas. That's the goal of Mayor Greg Fischer's Lots of Possibility competition.

Fischer announced the winners today at the corner of North 17th Street and Portland Avenue, the location where the dyeScape project will cultivate plants to create dyes for natural textile production.

"We hope that dyeScape will inspire, educate, and um, hopefully move things in the next direction for Louisville to become the national leader in the next sustainable environment, natural textiles and dyes," said Colleen Clines, Anchal Project co-founder.

Habitat for Humanity will build a home for a Family Scholar House graduate. Lots of Lavender will plant herb beds to make potpourri and oil of lavender and Mediation Labyrinth that will provide a green space programmed for art, meditation and inter-generational community events.

Lots of Possibility is part of the city's broader strategy to reduce the more than 5,000 vacant properties throughout the city. A high concentration of those are in west Louisville.
