BOONE COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – A Boone County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a teen who hit him with her car and continued to accelerate, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's office.

On April 26, Deputy Tyler Brockman was outside of his car in the 6600 Block of River Road (KY-8) to investigate a report of a field party.

Around 2:10 a.m., Brockman ordered the driver of a car leaving the party to stop. The driver, 19-year-old Samantha Ramsey of Covington, Kentucky, hit Brockman causing him to land on the hood of the car, the report says.

Brockman then fired four shots through the windshield. The report says the driver stopped and backed up into a ditch.

Ramsey was declared dead at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Kentucky.

Brockman was treated for a leg injury at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky, and released.

Sheriff Michael A. Helmig has ordered an investigation and Deputy Brockman has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard policy.
