Man hits pedestrian with car, then pulls gun

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man has been charged after police say he intentionally struck another man with his car and then pulled a gun on him.

An arrest warrant says the victim was walking in an alley behind the 1400 block of South 3rd Street on April 15 when a car driven Christopher Avery Dougherty, 33, came down the alley at a high rate of speed. According to the warrant, the victim moved to the right to get out of the way, but Dougherty swerved the vehicle. The victim was hit in the arm by the car's mirror.

The warrant says Dougherty drove on and backed his car into a garage. When the victim stated he was going to call police, Dougherty allegedly got a handgun from inside the garage, came back into the alley, approached the victim and pointed and pointed the gun at him.

Louisville Metro Police said Dougherty and the victim were total strangers. The victim was able to identify Dougherty in a photo pack.

Dougherty was arrested April 28 by Jefferson County deputy sheriffs. He is charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
