From the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
LOUISVILLE, KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of lane closures on Interstate 65 this weekend in Bullitt County. Recently, the roadway has been reduced to one lane in each direction on weekends as part of the concrete replacement project. However, this weekend two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction.
"This change in traffic pattern will allow for better flow of traffic to and from Louisville for Kentucky Derby events," stated Matt Bullock, Chief District Engineer for the Department of Highways District 5 Office in Louisville.
The right lane is currently closed in each direction on Interstate 65 between the Bullitt/Hardin County line and Lebanon Junction Road (mile points 103.3 to 105.9). These lanes will remain closed to allow concrete poured this week to cure and develop the necessary strength to support traffic.
Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction this weekend through the work zone. The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH and double fines are being enforced.
Hall Contracting of Louisville, Kentucky was awarded this contract with construction scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.
