MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC) - Downtown Memphis is packed with people for the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival.  It is an annual music tradition, often accompanied by rain, but not this year.

This year you can substitute your rain boots for sunscreen and lots of water. Jerry Lee Lewis, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Joan Jett and Kid Rock are just a few of the bands in Memphis for the festival.

No royalty has been spotted, but there are plenty of eager fans hoping to hear the sound of music.

Shaun LaRue could not help herself when she heard about one of Saturday's bands.

"This is my first time of being at Memphis in May and I love Kid Rock," said LaRue. "I'm here by myself, I didn't care I was coming."

She and thousands of others have come to Memphis to hear music and visit the famous Beale Street. Fans hoping the international spotlight of the royals in Memphis only attracts more to the festival next year.

Todd Baker is in town from Florida, taking in the sights and sounds.

"I wanna see Jerry Lee Lewis, although I'm also here to see Joan Jett and Jason Isbell, so it's a triple J weekend," said Baker.

There is a lot of talk downtown about whether the royals will come visit Sunday, or even Saturday night after the wedding.
