County courtroom Monday.

Shelton was being arrested on shoplifting charges in the parking lot of a
Authorities said Shelton stole the police
cruiser at the scene and made a high-speed escape, crashing into a sports
utility vehicle and then slamming into a gas station pump. A man inside the SUV
Shelton is charged with vehicular homicide,
felony evading arrest, theft, and violation of probation.
The family of the man killed in the wreck has filed a suit against Shelton, the city, and the police department, saying the incident wouldn't have happened of proper protocols had been followed.
