LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is listed as John Doe on his arrest slip after refusing to give officers his identity.

According to that arrest slip, an officer on routine patrol around Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road around 2:00 p.m. saw him seated in an abnormal position. When the officer approached Doe, he acted like he was hearing impaired and tried to distance himself from the officer while refusing to identify himself.

The officer said he thought Doe could be missing with disabilities and wanted to see if he needed medical assistance. When he tried to place Doe under arrest, Doe began running to elude the officer. After a verbal warning, the officer deployed a taser, but Doe was able to continue and even tried throwing a heavy city trash in the way to slow down the officer.

Doe ran past several restaurants and businesses while also trespassing on several residential properties. Once apprehended, he continued to act disabled. When the officer attempted to take photos for LMPD, Doe smiled and have the officer the ‘rock on' with both hands.

Sign language was attempted to communicate with him, but Doe refused.

He was later identified as Abraham Smith, 28. It is not clear whether or not he is hearing impaired.

He is being charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, menacing and criminal trespassing.
